During the time as a Miss Universe, the United Nations invited me to become its UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador for life.

Since then I have been responsive to the issues of AIDS awareness in India, Female Reproductive Rights, and act as spokesperson for the Face to Face programme.

I am also actively involved with the United Nations Populations Fund on their 'Missing' campaign, profiling the declining child sex ratio in India.
